Come Join Us for Fun in the Redwoods

Stewardship Weekends are an important part of preserving the camp and a great way for individuals to enjoy this historic group campground. (See also Friends of the Woodlands.)

In both Spring and Fall, lucky volunteers gather at the Woodlands for a weekend getaway of great fun and the satisfaction of helping out with a few projects. Volunteers stay in Camp One’s cozy cabins— complete with fireplace — and receive meals as part of the package. (There’s no charge, but donations would be gratefully accepted.)

As a volunteer, you would arrive Friday evening to hot supper (available 6–10pm) and a cheery fire in our historic dining hall, greeting old and new friends alike. The next morning, after a hearty breakfast, everyone divides into groups to tackle projects, supervised by Woodlands staff. By about 4 pm, work is complete and is followed by a big dinner. This meal is usually followed by music and camaraderie, so bring your instruments, dancing shoes, or just clap along. After Sunday’s leisurely breakfast, you’re free to enjoy the magnificent area.

Whether it’s erecting tents on platforms, setting signage posts, building stairways or planting ferns and shrubs to restore our natural beauty, you will experience the joy and satisfaction of working side by side with others and accomplishing a truly amazing amount in what seems like very little time.

The Stewardship Weekends are hosted by MWCA and take place this year on April 20–22 and September 21–23, 2012. It’s invaluable to the Woodlands’ preservation and is a whole lot of fun (includes 5 meals). To reserve your spot, fill out the form below:
